Statement of adherence
Our Code of Good Practice
T88888.me follows the Department for Culture, Media and Sport's Voluntary Code of Good Practice for Prize Draw Operators. This page sets out how we meet it.
Prize integrity
- Every advertised prize is awarded in full. We never reduce a prize because of low ticket sales.
- Every competition round has a closing date 364 days after it launches, shown on the competition card and draw page. A round closes when every ticket has sold or on its closing date, whichever comes first. We never cancel a draw because of low sales.
- If a round reaches its closing date before selling out, the main prize is still awarded in full: the winner is picked from the tickets sold using the same provably fair method, any instant wins not yet won lapse, and a fresh round opens with a new 364-day closing date.
- Winners are chosen at random by our system the moment a draw sells out (or reaches its closing date), and prizes are credited to the winner's wallet instantly.
- Instant win ticket numbers are fixed and hidden when each draw opens, and cannot be changed afterwards.
Transparency & odds
- Each draw shows the total number of tickets available, the number sold, and the odds of winning per ticket.
- Each draw shows the number and value of instant win prizes, and which have already been won.
- Lucky 8s: in every draw, tickets numbered 8, 88, 888, 8888 and 88888 (where the draw is big enough) each earn £8.88 site credit automatically, on top of any other prize. Free postal entries qualify too. Each draw page shows which Lucky 8s are still available.
- A limit on the number of tickets per person is shown on every draw.
Provably fair draws
- When each draw round opens, our system generates a secret random seed and immediately publishes its SHA-256 fingerprint on the draw page. The fingerprint is public before any ticket is sold, so the seed cannot be swapped later without everyone being able to see it.
- The hidden instant win ticket numbers are calculated from that seed, so they are fixed before sales begin and cannot be moved to or away from any player.
- When the last ticket sells, we take a fingerprint of every sold ticket. The seed and that ticket fingerprint together decide the winning ticket using a fixed published formula: SHA-256(seed:tickets) mod total tickets + 1. If a round reaches its closing date first, the winner is the sold ticket at position SHA-256(seed:tickets) mod (tickets sold) in the ordered list of sold tickets. Nobody - including us - can pick or change the winner.
- After the draw we reveal the seed on the result page, alongside the full ticket list, the sold-out time and every winner. Anyone can re-run the maths with the 'Verify this draw in my browser' button or with any standard SHA-256 tool.
- Draws completed before this system was introduced are marked as such on their result pages.
Player protection
- You must be 18 or over and a UK resident to take part.
- There is no spending limit imposed by default. Every player can choose their own monthly spending limit at any time from their wallet, including £0. Once set, a limit is locked and can only be changed by our support team on request.
- Credit cards are not accepted. Wallet top-ups must be made by debit card.
- Every entry requires a correct answer to a skill question. Incorrect answers are never charged.
- No purchase is necessary. Every live competition can be entered free by post (one entry per envelope), with exactly the same chance of winning as a paid entry - see our Free postal entry page.
Payouts
- Your wallet has two balances. Site credit comes from top-ups (and referral rewards) and can only be spent on tickets - it can't be withdrawn or refunded. Your cash balance holds prize winnings and can be withdrawn. Tickets use site credit first, then cash balance.
- Prize winnings are held in your cash balance and can be withdrawn to a UK bank account. Withdrawal requests are reviewed and paid by bank transfer. Withdrawals can take up to 7 days, but are often processed quicker.
- Lucky 8 bonus top-ups (pay £88.88 for £100 site credit, or £888.88 for £1,000 site credit) are paid entirely as site credit for tickets.
Complaints
- If you have a concern about a draw or your account, contact support@t88888.me and we will respond within 5 working days.
